  GCCSG: The Role of the Sultanate of Oman in Mediating between Tehran and Brussels Confirms the Legacy of its Diplomacy and its Constant Efforts to Resolve Regional and International Issues

​His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed the great role played by the Sultanate of Oman in implementation of the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in solving the issues of national detainees in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Belgium, confirms the prominent role of the long-standing Omani diplomacy in settling outstanding regional and international issues.


Commenting further, His Excellency the Secretary General stated that the good offices made by the Sultanate of Oman in resolving the issue of the detained nationals between the Iranian and Belgian governments, contributed to the mutual release of the detainees of the two countries.

Furthermore, His Excellency said that the countries of the GCC are advocates of peace and stability in the region and the world, and always pursue to contribute to regional and international issues by peaceful means and through diplomatic channels between all parties.
