  During his participation in the 22nd WTTC Global Summit .. GCC Secretary General: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is Leading a New Global Approach to Redrawing the Global Tourism Map

His Excellency Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is leading a new global approach to redrawing the global tourism map, as it now represents a new and ambitious destination that aims to shape the features of the tourism sector to become more flexible, comprehensive and sustainable.

This came during HE the Secretary General’s participation in the 22nd World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, held on Tuesday (November 29, 2022) in the city of Riyadh, under the theme "Travel for a Better Future" and with the participation of 50 ministers in various government sectors from around the world, as well as more than 200 business leaders and executives of major international companies.

HE the Secretary General underlined that the summit is of great importance as it brings together the leaders of the public and private sectors, and with the participation of senior government representatives, to continue supporting the recovery of the tourism sector to achieve a safer, more flexible, inclusive and sustainable future. 

Moreover, HE Dr Al Hajraf also stressed that the summit comes at an essential and vital time for the global travel and tourism sector, noting to the significance of this sector to the global economy as a contributor to jobs’ creation and the development of livelihoods around the world.

HE the Secretary General praised the efforts exerted to host the summit in Riyadh with an unprecedented international presence of tourism leaders in the world, expressing his wishes of success for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in organising and hosting summits, events and activities in various international forums.
