Their Excellencies the Governors of the Central Banks of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and His Excellency the Governor of the People’s Bank of China today approved the joint action plan between the GCC Central Banks and the People’s Bank of China.

This followed the second joint meeting that was held on Tuesday (November 29, 2022) via audio-visual communication. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr Fahad bin Abdullah Al Mubarak, Governor of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia, chairman of the current session, and with the participation of His Excellency Mr. Khalid Mohammed Belama Al Tamimi, Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr. Rasheed bin Mohammed Al Maraj, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, His Excellency Mr. Tahir bin Salim Al Amri, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman, His Excellency Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed Al Thani, Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, His Excellency Mr. Basil Ahmed Al Haroun, Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait, and His Excellency Dr Nayef Falah M. Al Hajraf, Secretary General of the GCC. Meanwhile, the Chinese side was chaired by Dr Yi Gang, Governor of the People's Bank of China.

During the meeting, Their Excellencies the governors of GCC central banks and the Chinese side discussed a number of topics, including the adoption of the work plan between banks in the GCC countries with the People’s Bank of China, and the areas and topics proposed to be discussed, as well as discussing growth, inflation, and climate change and its impact on the financial sector in the GCC countries and the People's Republic of China.

It is worth noting that the meeting comes as a continuation of the outcomes of the first joint meeting of governors of GCC central banks with the governor of the People's Bank of China, which was held on September 28, 2021.
