  The GCC and the People's Republic of China discuss means of Joint Cooperation

The Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaishek and his accompanying delegation met on Tuesday, 6 August 2019, in Beijing, Mr. Shouwen Wang, the Vice Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China to discuss means of joint cooperation between both sides. 
They reviewed the progress of the joint action plans, the latest developments related to the Free Trade Agreement negotiations between the two sides, and the obstacles that prevent reaching a final agreement between them. The two sides affirmed their keenness to overcome the obstacles facing these negotiations and to accelerate their pace to reach a final agreement that guarantees the interests of both sides.
The Chinese side reaffirmed their full commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with the GCC within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two sides in all fields, and their willingness to provide sufficient flexibility to conclude the Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible.
The Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations noted the importance of economic relations between the GCC and the People's Republic of China, which are the GCC second trade partner, with the volume of trade exceeding $ 170 billion in 2018. He stressed the GCC's keenness to increase the economic and trade ties through the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement, which will open the Chinese market to the GCC investors and exporters.
