  Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council visits the GCC-EMC

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani visited on Tuesday, 19 March 2019, the GCC Emergency Management Center headquarters, in Kuwait; where he was received by, Ms. Wejdan Ali Al-Aqab, the GCC-EMC Director, and a number of senior officials.
The Secretary-General toured the center and was briefed on its latest developments, strategic plans, programs and initiatives to enhance the coordination and cooperation among the GCC states in the field of emergency and crisis management, and the GCC-EMC efforts to develop cooperation with international organizations specialized in this vital field to ensure the highest level of efficiency in emergency and crisis management among the GCC States that are in line with the international standards.
The GCC-EMC gave a presentation on its efforts to raise the level of emergency preparedness in the face of all kinds of risks, and plans and procedures to recover from and reduce their impact.
On this regard, the Secretary-General commended the support and care extended by the Government of Kuwait, represented by HE Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, for hosting the Center's headquarters and supporting its efforts, Noting the GCC-EMC and its staff of experts, administrators and technicians sincere efforts to raise the level of the GCC-EMC efficiency and operational capacity, in order to achieve the desired objectives. He stressed the GCC States keenness to provide security and safety from all threats to their citizens and residents; as well as the importance of intensifying the efforts to raise the level of the GCC emergency preparedness, and wished the GCC-EMC management and staff success .
