The GCC participated at the invitation of the British Foreign Office in the meeting of the Communications Working Group of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, held on Tuesday, 12 March 2019, at the British Foreign Office headquarters.
The GCC delegation was led by, the GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaishek, with the participation of representatives of all member states of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
The GCC delegation stressed the GCC keenness to defeat ISIS and other terrorist groups, and reviewed the Coalition's military and security efforts in this regard. They also stressed the need to identify new channels, tools and partnerships that will contribute to enhance the work of the Communications Working Group of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, and the best ways to limit ISIS military capabilities in view of its current situation, such as countering terrorist extremism through various social media platforms, which are used by terrorist groups to spread their message and recruit young people.
