  The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council attends a Presentation on GCC Economic and Developmental Achievements

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, attended on Tuesday, 5 February 2019, at the GCC headquarters, a presentation prepared by the Economic Affairs sector on the GCC Economic and Developmental Achievements; and attended by,  their Excellencies Directors of the GCC National statistical centers, members of the GCC Standing Committee for Statistical Work; led by, Mr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani, Executive Chairman of the National Center for Statistics and Information in the Sultanate of Oman, and Mr. Saber Al Harbi, Director General of the GCCSTAT.

The presentation delivered by Mr. Abdulmalik Al Sheikh, Head of the GCC Economic Affairs sector, included the GCC Economic and Developmental Achievements, most notably; the Gulf common market, the Monetary Council, the Customs Union, the electrical Interconnection, and the railway; in addition to a number of integrative projects including Agreements, and unified laws and strategies.

Mr. Abdulmalik Al Sheikh also reviewed the GCC achievements in regards to development, such as; Conduct surveys, the establishment of entrepreneurship funds, connecting the GCC governmental networks, and increased number of flights between the GCC states. He also addressed the statistical achievements represented in the 2010 Census of Population and Unified Housing, conducting joint sectoral surveys and issuing statistical indicator reports.

Mr. Khalid Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Director-General of GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority, also gave a presentation addressing the Economic and Development Affairs Authority strategy to achieve the GCC economic unity, and ways to enhance the GCC cooperation to maximize the economic potential of the GCC States, As well as the integrative projects and strategic initiatives implemented by the Authority within the framework of the GCC's strategy to achieve economic unity By 2025.
