  The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council: Holding the 40th session of the Supreme Council in Riyadh is a clear evidence of the Leaders ’Keenness to Regularize the GCC Summits

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani praised the blessed journey of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and the tireless and sincere efforts of their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC States - may Allah protect them - to enhance the GCC joint work and expand the fields of cooperation and integration among the GCC States in various fields, in order to fulfill the aspirations of the GCC citizens and their hope for more communication and interdependence.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, he said: The 40th session of the Supreme Council will be held in Riyadh tomorrow under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah protect him – is a shining proof of the of the GCC Leaders ’Keenness - may Allah protect them - to Regularize the GCC Summits, to preserve the Gulf Cooperation Council system, which days and events have confirmed as a coherent system capable of overcoming difficulties and challenges and continue to achieve integrative achievements in accordance with the lofty goals of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council noted that the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah protect him - and his sincere efforts to enhance the GCC cooperation, believing - may Allah bless him - in the bonds of brotherhood and love that bind the citizens of the GCC states. The Secretary General expressed his pride in assigning the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to His Excellency to convey the generous invitation to their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states - may Allah protect them - to participate in the work of the 40th session of the GCC Supreme Council.
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani expressed his deep congratulations and blessings to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government and people on the occasion of assuming the G20 presidency, stressing that this international event reflects the high economic position that the Kingdom holds among the countries of the world and the constructive role it plays in supporting the issues of developing countries as well as the countries of the region, and work to contribute to returning the global economic growth and achieve the goals of sustainable development.
The Secretary General expressed his hope that the decisions Their Majesties and Highnesses Summit will lead the leaders of the GCC States to push forward the GCC joint work and achieve the aspirations and hopes of the GCC citizens towards more interdependence, cooperation and integration.
He said that the GCC 40th summit's agenda is full of many topics that would enhance the GCC joint work in its various political, economic, defense, security and legal fields, in addition to the latest developments in the region, current political issues and the international attitudes towards it.
The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council appreciated the numerous achievements made by the Cooperation Council in various political, security, defense, economic and social fields, which contributed to increasing the gains of the GCC citizens and strengthened the distinguished position of the Gulf Cooperation Council regionally and internationally.
He said that the GCC joint work journey, thanks to the Almighty, then with the wisdom and insight of the leaders of the GCC states, have achieved many accomplishments and integrative projects during the past years, including the establishment of the Gulf Common Market, the GCC Customs Union, the GCC Interconnection, the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority, the GCC Economic Judiciary Commission and other specialized bodies in the various defense, security and development fields. He pointed out that completing implementing and operating of the GCC Railways project will achieve more interdependence, communication and mutual trade exchange.
His Excellency added that the GCC States have made it a priority for their joint achievements to be economically beneficial to the GCC citizens. The GCC Economic Citizenship aims to achieve complete equality between the GCC citizens in movement, ownership, work, trade and economic activities, as well as enjoy the social services such as education, health and social insurance. This contributed to the increase in the volume of intra-regional trade between the GCC States, reaching $ 147 billion in 2018, while in 2003 it was about $ 6 billion.
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani noted the distinguished position achieved by the Gulf Cooperation Council regionally and internationally, stressing that the Gulf Cooperation Council seeks to consolidate its relations with its international partners through strategic dialogues and constructive work plans. The GCC plays a vital and active role in enhancing the security and stability of the region, in cooperation and partnership with friendly and allied countries.
He said that the next stage will witness a major development in developing the GCC relations with many countries and global blocs, including the resumption of free trade negotiations and the strengthening of strategic partnerships with friendly countries.
The Secretary General emphasized that the Gulf Cooperation Council demonstrated despite the difficult circumstances, challenges and difficulties, that it is a firm entity capable of achieving its goals and protecting its accomplishments and interests and will always remain, with Allah's help, an umbrella for achieving security, stability and peace, and an oasis of growth and prosperity for the good of its citizens, the brotherly Arab and all of humanity.
