  The GCC Technical Secretariat Office of Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade excludes Bahrain exports from Prevention Fee against the Import of Iron and Steel

The GCC Technical Secretariat Office of Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade has ruled out Bahrain exports from the imposition of preventive Fee against its EU Imports of Iron and Steel.

The Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Development Affairs, Mr. Khalifa said Al-Abri, stated that the European Union has excluded the Kingdom of Bahrain from imposing any preventive fees, Pointing out that this comes as an achievement made by The GCC Technical Secretariat Office of Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade, where they played a significant role in legal, technical and follow-up defenses during the investigation period conducted by the EU countries.

Mr. Al-Abri, pointed that The GCC Technical Secretariat Office in accordance with its role identified in the unified law, provide advice and technical support to the GCC producers and exporters who face claims related to dumping, support or prevention from other countries and follow-up its progress in coordination with the concerned parties in Member States. He added that the Office has succeeded in many previous cases before, which were delegated by the GCC ministries and concerned bodies to exclude them from imposing duties against their imports, and successfully closed a number of investigations without the imposition of any fees on the exports of the GCC countries concerned.

For his part, the Director-General of The GCC Technical Secretariat Office of Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade, Mr. Rehan Mubarak Fayez, appreciated the GCC states trust, stressing that it motivate them to make more efforts achieving its objectives in protecting the GCC industries from harmful practices in international trade and enhance their role in developing the GCC economies.

It is worth mentioning that the European Union's authority began on 26/03/2018 the prevention measures on the imports of iron and steel in the world.
