  Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council welcomes the results of the peace consultations between the Yemeni parties

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani, welcomed the positive results reached by Yemeni parties in the peace consultations held in the Kingdom of Sweden, under the close supervision of the United Nations, as an important and constructive step to rebuild confidence and further hope in the return of peace, stability, and reconstruction.

Dr. Abdullatif al-Zayani expressed his appreciation for the tireless efforts of the UN Secretary-General's envoy to the Republic of Yemen, Martin Griffiths, and his high ability to continue its efforts to hold peace talks between the legitimate Yamani government and the Houthi group, to end the military conflict and achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people to stop the bloodshed and put an end to the painful tragedies they suffer.

The Secretary-General also expressed his pride in the legitimate Yamani government's position, under the leadership of Mr. President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, President of the Republic of Yemen, and their sincere efforts to participate actively, positively and faithfully in the peace consultations in Stockholm, and their keenness to end this destructive war and lift the suffering of the Yemeni people; Praising the arrangements taken by the Swedish government to host the Yemeni peace consultations.

Dr. Abdullatif al-Zayani praised the position taking by the international community and the UN Security Council to support peace in Yemen and maintain the region stability; referring to the Arab Coalition position in support of the legitimate government, and the constructive measures taken to overcome the obstacles and facilitate procedures creating the conditions to hold Yemeni peace consultations; stopping the bloodshed, and safeguarding the supreme interest of the brotherly Yemeni people.
