  The GCC participates in The 13th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands

The General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council participates in The 13th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the (Ramsar) Convention on Wetlands entitled "Wetlands for a Sustainable Urban Future", organized by the Ramsar Convention Secretariat and the Dubai Municipality in coordination with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate change and Environment on 21-29 October 2018.

The Ramsar Convention is an intergovernmental treaty signed in February 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. The Convention aims to preserve wetland habitats from degradation or destruction and to preserve wildlife in those areas, Wetlands is a resource of great value at all economic, cultural, scientific and recreational levels.

The Representatives of the GCC States participating in the Conference will hold coordination meetings to come up with a unified position on the issues on the conference agenda.

The coordination meetings will be led by, Dr. Abdullah Al Zeidan, Director of the biodiversity conservation Directorate at the Kuwait Environment Public Authority. And the GCC participates represented by Mr. Bader Al-Zubairi, head of the Wildlife division of the Directorate of Environment.
