  The GCC launches the Initial Search Service in Patent Applications

The GCC Patent Office has launched an initial search service for patent applications.

This service allows the applicant to obtain an initial search result showing whether the idea he is searching has similar inventions around the world.

Mr. Abdullah AlMoqhim, the Head of the GCC Patent Office, explained that this step is intended to save the time, effort and financial costs of individual patent applicants from filing their applications officially. After obtaining the result; they could decide whether or not officially file their applications with patent offices around the world.

Mr. AlMoqhim, said that this service will reduce the recurring ideas and focus on the new ideas, which contribute to solving the existing problems and will provide an environment suitable for individual innovators to help them innovate by facilitating the services and procedures required to preserve their rights.

He concluded by saying, that this service comes within the directives of HE the GCC Secretary-General, in order to support the inventors of the GCC to compete and contribute in inventions and economic development.
