  The Strategic Partnership between the GCC and the People's Republic of China

The Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaishek and his accompanying delegation met on Wednesday, 7 August 2019, at the MOFA headquarters in Beijing, Mr. Chen Xiaodong, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.
They reviewed the progress of the action plans agreed upon within the framework of the strategic partnership between the GCC and China in all political, cultural, tourism, education and other fields, which has been growing remarkably recently, in the hope that a final agreement will be reached on the subjects of dispute in regards to the Free Trade Agreement negotiations between the two sides.
They also discussed the latest regional and international developments, where the Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister praised the role the GCC play in maintaining security and stability in the region. He stressed China's keenness to deepen the strategic partnership with the GCC and that the Chinese Ministry and leadership are keen to conclude the Free Trade Agreement with the GCC at the earliest opportunity.
The Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations stressed the GCC keenness to strengthen cooperation with the People's Republic of China in all fields, as well as looking forward to cooperate with the Chinese Foreign Ministry in supporting the strategic partnership between the two sides, including the free trade negotiations, with the aim to conclude the agreement in the near future.
