  The GCC and the European Council on Foreign Relations discuss regional issues

The Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Owaishek, met on Sunday, 6 January 2019, a delegation of the European Council on Foreign Relations, in the GCC headquarters in Riyadh.

During the meeting they discussed the regional issues, especially with regard to the latest political developments in Yemen, and the efforts exerted by the GCC states in supporting the UN efforts to end the Yemeni crisis, through the agreed political references represented in; the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), and the Security Council resolution 2216.

The Assistant Secretary General of the European Council on Foreign Relations praised the efforts exerted by the GCC states and their effective role in providing the humanitarian and development aid needed in Yemen. They also discussed ways to provide Yemen with development and relief assistance for stability, and reconstruction; referring to the GCC Supreme Council decision on its role in the development and rehabilitation of the Yemeni economy and facilitate its integration with the Gulf economy, enhancing the reconstruction and recovery of the Yemeni economy.

The delegation of the European Council on Foreign Relations commended the efforts exerted by the GCC states supporting the political process in Yemen and providing humanitarian and developmental aid to the Yemeni people. They expressed their support to the efforts restoring stability and reconstruction in the areas where security conditions permit.
